Documents required in order to register in the district labour office as a job seeker

What documents do you need in order to register?

In order to register, the following documents are required:

  • A passport, identity card or another identification document,
  • All the work certificates that a foreigner has obtained so far in Poland,
  • Diplomas, certificates of graduation or a school certificate that is recognized in Poland; 
  • A confirmation of residence,
  • A document that confirms the foreigner’s right to stay in Poland (e.g. a temporary or
    permanent residence permit)
  • Documents which proves that the foreigner is not allowed to register as an unemployed person.

In certain cases some other documents, or not all of the listed above are required to establish the applicant’s rights.

Useful information

  • Registration occurs on the day a set of required documents is submitted in the district labour office competent for the permanent or temporary place of your residence, after certifying the data it contains with a signature in the presence of an employee of the district labour office.
  • You are obliged to report to the labour office any changes of the data included in the registration card.
  • A job seeker can be registered in more than one labour office.

Labour offices made available a possibility of initial providing the labour office with the required information through the electronic registration system, accessible at: www.praca.gov.pl. Then the labour office sets for you a date of appearance, within seven working days from the date of providing the information, in order to let you to hand over all the required documents and register in the district labour office. In case you do not appear in the labour office on the set date, the information provided by you is deleted from the IT system of public employment services. This procedure enables you to book the date of the registration in the labour office.

Upon coming into force of selected paragraphs of the Regulation of the Minister of Labour and Social Policy of 12 November 2012 on the registration of the unemployed and job seekers, which took place on 27th of May 2013,  a new possibility of registration in the district labour offices through the electronic registration system, accessible at: www.praca.gov.pl, appeared.

However the option of Internet registration in the labour office as a job seeker is available if you have either:

  • secure electronic signature verified by a valid qualified certificate, in according to the principles laid down in the regulations on electronic signatures, or
  • or verified trusted profile on government services electronic platform (ePUAP).

In order to register you are obliged to fill in the application for registration, through the electronic registration system, accessible at: www.praca.gov.pl. In this case the documents required in order to register need to be scanned, and the application need to be signed through one of the types of secure signature listed above.
This procedure does not require your personal visit in the labour office in order to register.
