Financing the cost of travel and accommodation

What is financing the cost of travel and accommodation?

It is a labour market instrument offered to the unemployed by the district labour office. The reimbursement covers cost of the travel to: the place of employment or other paid work, trial period, vocational training for adults, vocational counselling classes that take place outside the place of residence, and the costs of accommodation, and one’s return to the place of residence.

Who can benefit from the reimbursement of the travel costs?

You may benefit from the instrument if you:

  • undertake employment or other paid work; carry out vocational training for adults, trial period; or participate in vocational counselling classes outside the place of permanent residence and do so on the basis of an assignment issued by the district labour office,
  • receive a salary that does not exceed 200% of the minimum remuneration for work (see the current rates).

How long can a reimbursement of travel costs last?

You may receive the reimbursement for the period of maximally 12 months or for the period the trial period, vocational training at the work place or vocational counselling classes continues.

What need to be done to receive the reimbursement of the travel costs?

If you wish to receive the reimbursement, you should submit the application to the competent district labour office.

Why is it worth applying for?

The following travel costs may be reimbursed:

  • travel expenses borne on medical or psychological examination and return to the place of residence, provided that you were assigned to that examination by the labour office  and it takes place outside your place of residence,
  • costs of travel to the employer and back to the place of residence in the case of the employer who submits a job offer if the employer's head office is located outside the place of residence of the unemployed person,
  • costs incurred on travel to the place of socially useful works and return to the place of residence, if the works are performed outside the place of residence of the unemployed person.

How long can you receive the reimbursement of accommodation costs last?

You may receive the reimbursement for the period of maximally 12 months or for the period the trial period, vocational training for adults, vocational counselling classes continues.

Who can benefit from the reimbursement of the costs of accommodation?

To benefit from the instrument, you have to meet the following requirements:

  • undertake employment or other paid work, works for a trial period, carries out vocational training at the work place outside the place of permanent residence and does so on the basis of an assignment of a district labour office, while the total time of commuting (to the place and back) by means of public transport exceeds 3 hours a day,
  • stays in a hotel or rented flat in a town or city where you are employed, perform other paid work, carry out a trial period or vocational training for adults ,
  • receive an income that does not exceed 200% of the minimum remuneration for work in the month, for which the accommodation cost is refunded.

Remember!

Whether the labour office grants you this kind of support or not depends on type of profile established for you during an interview when a client advisor analyses your situation and chances on the labour market and on the basis of the individual action plan tailored to your needs.
