Working hours
If you are a disabled person, you have special rights concerning working hours:
- if you are an employee with moderate or severe disabilities, you must not be obliged to work more than 7 hours per day and 35 hours per week, provided that a doctor who carries out the preventive examinations of employees or in case he is absent, a doctor who maintains medical supervision on you, issues you with a certificate stating the need for you to work in the shortened working hours (the costs of preventive examinations are borne by your employer)
- employees with mild disabilities must not be obliged to work more than 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week.
The above standards will be applied to you from the day you present you employer with the certificate stating the need for you to work in the shortened working hours.
As a disabled worker, one cannot work overtime or night shifts.
The above provisions may not be applied provided that, at your request, a doctor who carries out the preventive examinations gives his permission to you to work overtime or night shifts. Similarly, those provisions do not concern people employed in the Security Branch.
Work breaks
Work breaks for employees with disabilities are 15 minutes longer than for others. It is meant to be spent on exercise or rest and must not influence the remuneration for work.
Workers with moderate or severe disabilities have 10 days of payable vacation time more than the other employees does.
Employees with moderate or severe disabilities have also a right to be released from work for two purposes:
- for rehabilitation (up to 21 days per year);
- for medical examinations and treatment, and to purchase or repair orthopedic equipment, with the same remuneration.
Both additional annual leave and rehabilitation leave together must not exceed 21 days per year.
