Scholarships

If you are an unemployed person and you are assigned to a trial period, vocational training for adults, also if you begin to continue education in a supra-secondary school for adults or started to study at a university as an extramural student you may receive a scholarship.

Monthly scholarship amounts to:

  • 120% of benefit referred to in Article 72 par.1 point 1 (see the current rates), if the monthly number of hours of training is at least 150 hours; in the case of a lower number of monthly training hours, the scholarship amount is determined in proportion, except that the scholarship cannot be lower than 20% of the allowance referred to in Article 72 par. point 1
  • 20% of the benefit is granted to a person referred to training, in the case of taking up employment, other paid work or starting a business during the training, in such situation he/she has the right to complete the training without having to incur the costs. He/she is entitled to a scholarship in the amount of 20% of the benefit, regardless of the number of hours of training, from the date of taking up employment, other paid work or starting a business to the end of training. The amount of scholarship is not subject to social insurance contributions. For an incomplete month, the scholarship is determined by dividing the amount of scholarship by 30 and multiplying the resulting figure by the number of calendar days in the period for which the scholarship is granted.

A scholarship for countinuing education amounts to:

  • 100% of benefit referred to in Article 72 par.1 point 1, paid over a period of 12 months from the date of commencement of studies (as long as the amount of income per family member, within the meaning of provisions on social assistance, entitling to social assistance benefits, is not exceeded. Income does not include the amount of the scholarship.)
  • 20% of benefit referred to in Article 72 par.1 point 1 in case of taking up employment, other paid work or starting a business while continuing education. For an incomplete month, the scholarship is determined by dividing the amount of scholarship by 30 and multiplying the resulting figure by the number of calendar days in the period for which the scholarship is granted.

A scholarship during the trial period amounts to:

  • 120% of benefit referred to in Article 72 par.1 point 1

A scholarship during the vocational training for adults amounts to:

  • 120% of benefit referred to in Article 72 par.1 point 1.

Useful information:

Periods of collection of unemployment benefit and scholarship awarded on the basis of Article 41 par.1, Article 53 par.6 and Article 53g par.1 are counted in the work period required to acquire or preserve employee rights and contributory periods under the provisions on pensions from the Social Insurance Fund.

Periods of collection of unemployment benefit and scholarship do not count in to:

  • periods required for entitlement to, amount and duration of unemployment benefit;
  • period of employment upon which depends the entitlement to annual leave;
  • seniority as defined in separate regulations, required to perform certain jobs.
